Rev. Jonathan S. Toborowsky was born in 1967 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to Lawrence and Patricia Toborowsky (both of whom are deceased).

A convert from Judaism, Father Jay attended Hillel Academy in Perth Amboy, before moving to Woodbridge Township (N.J.), where he attended public schools. He was baptized as an adult in 1990. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Seton Hall University in 1994, and both a Masters of Arts and a Masters of Divinity degree from Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Father Jay was ordained to the Priesthood on May 30, 1998 by Bishop Vincent D. Breen. He served as Parochial Vicar in the parishes of St. James in Basking Ridge (1998-2003), St. Mary's in Alpha (2003-08), and St. Thomas the Apostle in Old Bridge (2008-09). He served as Pastor of St. Lawrence, Laurence Harbor, from 2009-18, before his appointment as Pastor of Immaculate Conception.

On the diocesan level, Fr. Jay currently serves as a member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors. In past years, he served the Office of Vocations, the Historical Commission, and as host of the diocesan radio show, Proclaim The Good News.

Fr. Edgar Madarang was born and raised in the Philippines. The youngest of eight, he has four sisters, and three brothers. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a major in Computer Science from the Ateneo de Manila University.  He came to the United States in 1993 to pursue a career in information technology.

Fr. Edgar discovered his vocation later in life after he immersed himself in the life of his parish in Richmond, Virginia. He applied for priesthood and was assigned to complete his priestly formation at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, MD.  As a seminarian for the Diocese of Metuchen, he served at St. John the Evangelist in Dunellen, and in 2014 he was assigned to Holy Family Parish in New Brunswick for his pastoral year as a Transitional Deacon. Fr. Edgar was ordained a Priest on May 23, 2015 by Bishop Paul Bootkoski and was assigned to Immaculate Conception for his first assignment as a priest. 

 

Deacon Joseph P. Campbell

Deacon Joe was ordained by Bishop Paul Bootkoski in June 2004. He and his wife Joan and son Ryan have been parishioners in Immaculate Conception since 1997. Deacon Joe received a Theology Certificate in Diaconal Ministry from The College St. Elizabeth in 2004. He holds a M.S. in Food Marketing and a B.S. in Psychology, both from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

In his professional life Deacon Joe has been in the food industry since 1987. He currently is the Vice President of Sales at Puratos Group, a bakery ingredients manufacturer. Deacon Joe was born and raised in the Philadelphia area where he attended Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, Pennsylvania and Sacred Heart School in Havertown, Pennsylvania.

 

DEACON EDWARD CISZEWSKI

Deacon Ed Ciszewski, his wife Renee, and their children James, Grace, and John (Jack) have been parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena in Pittstown since 2000. Renee serves as Religious Director of St. John Neumann in Califon.

Renee and Ed are no strangers to Immaculate Conception. Both Jack and Grace graduated from Immaculate Conception School, and Renee and Ed have participated in our community since 2003. Ed was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in May of 2017. Ed served in a variety of ministries at St. Catherine of Siena and is very excited to serve our parishioners at Immaculate Conception Church and School.

Ed holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Masters degree in Theology from Seton Hall University. Ed oversees service operations for Ceridian Corporation.

 

Deacon Michael Martini

Deacon Michael Martini, his wife Kathy and their children Christopher, Katie and Andrew have been parishioners at Immaculate Conception for over twenty years. He was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in June of 2010. 

His Cornerstone experience, both as a witness and team member, inspired his vocation to the Diaconate; and he credits Monsignor Andrew Szaroleta and Deacon Joe Campbell with nurturing that vocation. Michael co-chaired the Immaculate Conception Pastoral Council Formation Committee and was the founding President of the Pastoral Council. He was one of the original members of the committee that succeeded in opening a school at Immaculate Conception and he served on the initial School Advisory Committee. He also co-founded the Children’s Liturgy program.

An attorney by profession, Michael represented the parish before the Clinton Township Planning Board, obtaining the necessary approvals for the construction of Immaculate Conception School as well as our cemetery and mausoleum. Michael also served on the Catholic Charities Citizen’s Advisory Board for Hunterdon and Warren Counties and he is presently a member of the Diaconate Formation Council for the Diocese of Metuchen and the Catholic Charities Solidarity Team.

Michael is Chaplain to several ministries in the parish, including Cornerstone, Altar Servers and the Welcome Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University, a Juris Doctor from New York Law School and a Certificate in Diaconal Ministry from The College St. Elizabeth. He is Division Counsel at K. Hovnanian Title.

 

DEACON MICHAEL A. MEYER

Deacon Mike Meyer was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate by the Most Reverend Paul G. Bootkoski (Diocese of Metuchen) in 2010.  He is assigned to Immaculate Conception Parish in Annandale, NJ where he serves as chaplain to several ministries and is active in prison ministry, adult catechesis and with Immaculate Conception School and the Parish Religious Education Program.  He is the author of Ramblings from the Ambo, an online blog covering “just about anything.” Deacon Meyer is a Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6245.  


Deacon Meyer is Deputy General Counsel with UnitedHealth Group, where he oversees the legal functions relating to compliance, ethics, international privacy and external affairs.  He received his Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, DC and a Certificate in Diaconal Ministry and Master of Arts degree in Theology from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ.  He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Nu (the Jesuit National Honor Society) and Kappa Gamma Pi (the National Catholic Honor Society).  Deacon Meyer lives in Clinton Township, NJ with his wife Jessica and their two daughters.

DEACON MARK VAN DUYNHOVEN

Deacon Mark was ordained by Bishop James Francis Checchio in May, 2017. He and his wife Michele have lived in Annandale and have been members of Immaculate Conception since 1996. Deacon Mark’s daughter, Carol, lives in Philadelphia with her husband Andrew. His other daughter, Sarah, is currently attending Fordham University.


Deacon Mark received a Master of Arts degree in Theology and a Master of Business Administration, both from Seton Hall University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Siena College. Deacon Mark has worked in the medical device and pharmaceutical businesses his entire career, working in the Quality Assurance and Supply Chain areas. Deacon Mark is currently a Director within Johnson & Johnson’s Supply Chain Organization.


Deacon Mark has been involved in several ministries throughout the years at Immaculate Conception and currently volunteers with Hunterdon Hospice. Deacon Mark will be leading the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults preparation and formation program.
