The Parish Book Club Begins Autumn in “The Dutch House” The first book of Fall for the Parish Book Club is “The Dutch House” by Ann Patchett. Published in 2019, the novel was a runner up for the Pulitzer Prize and one of Time magazine’s 100 Must-Read Books of the Year. At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to build an immense real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. All are welcome to join the Book Club on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 7 PM in The Sofa Room to share thoughts about this engrossing story. For more information call Carole @ (908) 310-3886.
