Our March Curriculum includes…
In Reading/Writing Workshop we will be focusing on reading assorted biographies of famous Americans such as Rosa Parks and Helen Keller. We will continue to practice developing listening and comprehension skills as well as answering comprehension questions in complete sentences. We will continue to further develop creative writing skills by using writing prompts to write stories with St. Patrick’s Day themes.
In Math we will begin our study of time, money, and temperature. We will identify and learn the value of coins as well as skip count to find the value of a group of coins. Students will identify coin combinations that equal a dollar and add and subtract amounts. We will also work on estimating temperature and reading a thermometer as well as telling time to the quarter hour.
In Religion our Faith focus will center around our Family Life Book. We will discuss families and understand that God loves us just the way we are. Students will explain how and why we care for living things and discuss the idea of rules and how they keep people safe.
In our Social Studies Unit we will develop an understanding of the historical origin of St. Patrick’s Day and write creative fantasy stories.
Our Science Curriculum this month will focus on the Changing Earth. We will discuss and do activities to explore the concept of weathering and erosion, and how wind and water can change the shape of the land. We will continue our use of Mystery Science to gather data and carry out experiments.
Thank you as always for all of your contributions and support of our 2T and ICS Family. I appreciate all of your kind words and efforts at home in order that we can work together to continue to make this an academically, spiritually, and socially productive year for your children.
Please feel free to email me at any time with questions or concerns. God Bless all of our 2T Families as we look forward to spring and preparations for First Holy Communion.
