Fr. Edgar Madarang was born and raised in the Philippines. The youngest of eight, he has four sisters, and three brothers. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a major in Computer Science from the Ateneo de Manila University.
He came to the United States in 1993 to pursue a career in information technology. Fr. Edgar discovered his vocation later in life after he immersed himself in the life of his parish in Richmond, Virginia. He applied for priesthood and was assigned to complete his priestly formation at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, MD. As a seminarian for the Diocese of Metuchen, he served at St. John the Evangelist in Dunellen, and in 2014 he was assigned to Holy Family Parish in New Brunswick for his pastoral year as a Transitional Deacon. Fr. Edgar was ordained a Priest on May 23, 2015 by Bishop Paul Bootkoski who assigned him to Immaculate Conception for the first four years of his priesthood. Bishop Checchio re-assigned him to Immaculate Conception after serving at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi for four years
